Practical support for maths and English at home
Each month we'll focus on an area of maths or English and I'll share practical ways you can support your child.
Some months that might mean short activities or games you can try together.
Other months we might meet online for interactive workshops.
There may be resources to download, ideas to try at home, games to play or simple suggestions that help you explain something differently.
The format will change because the subject will change - and because I don't believe learning should ever be one-style-suits-all.
The aim will always be the same:
To give you practical ways to help build your child's knowledge and confidence without making learning feel like another chore.
October: Creative Writing
We're starting with two live online creative-writing workshops.
We'll use pictures, questions and imagination to help children develop their own ideas and turn them into stories.
There isn't one "correct" story to create.
Children can take the same starting point in completely different directions: funny, mysterious, adventurous, spooky or completely unexpected.
Workshop 1: The Forgotten Suitcase
We begin with a mysterious suitcase beneath an autumn tree.
Who left it there?
What's inside?
How long has it been there?
And what happens if you decide to open it?
We'll use the image as our starting point and gradually build characters, setting, description and a story around it.
Workshop 2: The House at the End of the Lane
Later in October, things become a little more mysterious...
We'll start with an old house and one simple question:
Who lives here?
From there we'll create the person (or perhaps creature!) behind the door and use our ideas to develop a Halloween-inspired story.
Spooky is absolutely allowed, but scary isn't compulsory!
I'm opening the first 20 places for £5 per month.
As a founding member, you'll keep that £5 monthly price for as long as your membership remains active.
Once the first 20 places have gone, the price for new members will increase.
If you cancel and decide to return later, you'll rejoin at the membership price available at that time.
There is no long-term commitment.

What happens in future months?
Each month we'll explore a different area of maths or English.
One month might involve live workshops. Another might give you a series of five-minute activities, games or downloadable resources to work through with your child.
For example, a future times-tables month might include simple daily activities and Clara James games designed to help children practise without simply completing another sheet of calculations.
I deliberately don't want to promise the same format every month.
Different children need different things and different subjects need different approaches.
What I can promise is that everything will be designed around one principle:
Helping you help your child learn and succeed.
